What to do right now

Knocked-out tooth. Pick the tooth up by the top (the crown), not the root. If it is dirty, rinse it gently with water, but do not scrub it. If you can, place it back in the socket and hold it in place by gently biting on clean gauze. If that is not possible, keep it in a small container of milk and call us right away. Time matters with a knocked-out tooth.

Toothache. Rinse with warm water and gently floss to remove any trapped food. An over-the-counter pain reliever, taken as directed on the label, may help. Do not put aspirin directly on your gums, because it can burn the tissue.

Chipped or broken tooth. Save any pieces you can find and rinse your mouth with warm water. A cold compress on the outside of your cheek can help with swelling.

Lost crown or filling. Keep the crown if you have it and bring it with you. Avoid chewing on that side until we can see you.

Swelling. A cold compress on the outside of your face can help. Swelling can be a sign of infection, so call us promptly.

Nervous or in pain?

When you are hurting, feeling calm can be hard. For patients who qualify, we offer sedation options to help you relax. If a tooth is too damaged to save, Dr. Feras Al Rezk can talk with you about replacement options such as dental implants.
